How to play Texas Hold'em: No Limit and Fixed Limit
Genesis Table has two games: Fixed-Limit Texas Hold'em, where every bet is one fixed step, and No-Limit Texas Hold'em, where you can bet anything up to all-in. Here is everything you need to sit down. Play money only.
▶ Practice nowThe hand
- Two players post blinds: the small blind (half a small bet) and the big blind (one small bet).
- Everyone gets two private cards. Betting starts left of the big blind.
- Flop: three shared cards, then a betting round.
- Turn: a fourth shared card, then a betting round.
- River: a fifth shared card and the last betting round.
- Showdown: the best five-card hand from your two cards and the five on the table wins. Equal hands split the pot.
No-limit betting
No-Limit tables are named by their blinds: at NL 50/100 the blinds are 50 and 100 chips. You may bet or raise any amount from the minimum up to everything in front of you (all-in). Set the size with the slider, type it in the amount box, or use Min, ½ Pot, Pot and All-in.
- The smallest bet is one big blind. A raise must be at least as big as the last bet or raise in the same round: after a bet of 100 the next raise goes to at least 200; after a raise to 300 the next goes to at least 500.
- An all-in that is smaller than a full raise does not reopen the betting for players who have already acted: they can only call or fold.
- There is no limit to the number of raises.
- Buy in for 40 to 100 big blinds of play chips.
| No Limit | Blinds | Buy-in (play chips) |
|---|---|---|
| NL 5/10 | 5 / 10 | 400 – 1,000 |
| NL 50/100 | 50 / 100 | 4,000 – 10,000 |
| NL 500/1k | 500 / 1,000 | 40,000 – 100,000 |
Fixed-limit betting
At stakes written as 100/200, bets and raises are 100 before the flop and on the flop, and 200 on the turn and river. Each betting round allows one bet and up to three raises. An all-in for at least half a bet counts as a raise. Heads-up, the button posts the small blind and acts first before the flop.
| Fixed Limit | Blinds | Buy-in (play chips) |
|---|---|---|
| 10/20 | 5 / 10 | 200 – 1,000 |
| 100/200 | 50 / 100 | 2,000 – 10,000 |
| 1k/2k | 500 / 1,000 | 20,000 – 100,000 |

The controls
- Fold, Call, Raise: your move when it is your turn (keys F, C and R). Call becomes Check and Raise becomes Bet when that is the move. At No-Limit tables the Raise button shows the amount you chose, and Enter in the amount box bets it.
- Advance actions before your turn: FOLD (checks if free), CALL (this amount only), CALL ANY, RAISE (at this bet only), RAISE ANY.
- Deal Me Out: sit out the next hands. Leave Table: stand up and free your seat.
- Show Cards: after winning without a showdown, show your hand if you like.
Time and disconnects
You have 25 seconds per decision, then your time bank (60 seconds, refilled 5 seconds per hand) starts automatically. If you run out, you check when you can and fold when you can't, and you are sat out with your chips still at the table. A disconnect never pauses the game. After 60 minutes away your seat is freed.
