A provably fair shuffle, checked by your own browser
Nobody, including the server, can pick the cards at a multiplayer table, and your browser checks every hand you play. The scheme is commit-reveal with player seeds.
How a hand is dealt
- The table picks a secret 32-byte seed and shows every player its SHA-256 hash, the commitment, before any card exists. The commitment record also lists who is dealt in and their stacks.
- Each player's browser then sends a fresh random seed of its own, and keeps a copy together with the commitment it saw.
- The deck is a Fisher–Yates shuffle driven by SHA-256(secret + commitment + every player's seed). The server could not choose it, because the player seeds came after its commitment, and no player could, because nobody knew the secret.
- When the hand ends, the secret is revealed together with every seed and the full action list.
What your browser checks
- The revealed secret hashes to the commitment it saw before sending its own seed.
- Its own seed is in the mix.
- The deck rebuilt from those seeds, replayed through the same open poker engine with the recorded actions, gives exactly the board, the winnings and the final stacks the table reported.
Hands you play are checked automatically (watch the status bar). At any table, open History and press Verify to see every check, or Replay to watch the hand again with win percentages.
What it proves, and what it cannot
- Proved: the shuffle was not chosen by anyone, and every pot was paid exactly by the rules.
- Not proved: that the dealer server kept hole cards secret during the hand. Genesis Table is an honest dealer you can audit, not a trustless one.
- Privacy note: because the secret is revealed after each hand, anyone who digs into the records can work out every hand, folded ones included. Genesis Table itself only ever shows the hands shown at showdown.
